Shillong, Mar 20: Rangkynsai SC and Capital Stars defeated their respective opponents by nine wickets each in the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, here today.

Rangkynsai’s match against Lawsohtun CC in Group C was rain-affected midway through. Batting first after losing the toss, Lawsohtun were 62/5 in 14.5 overs when the innings was interrupted. Kynsaibor Lyngkhoi’s 29 from 39 balls was the high score and Aryan Borah’s 2/10 in 4 overs the best bowling figures.

Set a revised 21 to win from 5 overs, Rangkynsai knocked this off in just 2.1 overs, finishing on 24/1. Ajay Duhan hit 21 of the 24 runs, facing just nine deliveries. He also took one wicket in the first innings and was named Player of the Match.

The other game, in Group A, saw Sporting CC win the toss and bat first. In a reduced 13 overs, Sporting posted 104/4, led by Gagandeep Singh’s 25 from 21 balls and Avinash Rai’s 24 from 22. Dharani Dhar Rabha took 2/22 in 3 overs.

The chase was brief as Capital Stars required just 8.1 overs to smash their way to 105/1. Ronit Akhter blasted 71 from only 33 deliveries, while Asif Washimul Haque made 26 from 15. Ronit received the Player of the Match award.
