Shillong, Mar 25: Langsning XI CC pipped Royal CC by just 4 runs in Group D of the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, here today.
In the other match, Meghalaya Police defeated Mawsyiem CC by 44 runs in Group A.
Royal CC won the toss and opted to field first and they bowled out Langsning for 137 in 19.5 overs. Ayush Agarwal top-scored with 38 from 39 balls, with Nishanta Chakraborty making 37 from just 15. Raj Biswa (3/28 in 3.5 overs) and Reshab Dipak (3/33 in 4) both took three wickets apiece.
It was a gettable total but Royal couldn’t string together enough partnerships and were all out in 19.2 over for 133. Swastic Chettri made 37 from 24 deliveries, while Aaron AR Nongrum claimed 2/20 in 4 overs and Bishal Roy 3/30 in 4. Bishal, who also scored 11 runs, was named Player of the Match.
The other game saw the cops win the toss and bat first. In a reduced 17 overs, MLP scrambled to 136/9, with Steve Syiemlieh (34 from 20 balls) and Ganesh Sahani (33 from 27) producing the most runs. Among the bowlers, Devention Lyngdoh bagged 2/16 in 4 overs and Bushbashisha Tohtih 2/22 in 3.
The bowling was good but Mawsyiem’s batting department couldn’t keep up and they struggled to 92/7 in 17 overs. Devention made 24 from 32 balls and Nangteibok Pariat 20 from 24. The veteran Wallambok Nongkhlaw demonstrated his skill with 3/11 in 3 overs, while Sylvester Mylliempdah snatched 2/16 in 3. Wallambok took home the Player of the Match award.
