Shillong, Mar 28: Lok Bhavan defeated Sputnik Spartans by 10 wickets in a rain-affected match in Group B of the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, here today.
The other scheduled game, between Lawsohtun CC and Young Guns CC in Group C was abandoned due to a wet outfield, with points shared between the two teams.
Nine overs a side were possible in the other fixture, with Lok Bhavan winning the toss and choosing to field first. Sputnik Spartans went at more than 10 an over to post 95/5, with Bappan Dutta scoring 40 from 18 deliveries and Kishlay Vishlux 33 from 12. Bikash Singha (1/13 in 2 overs) and Suraj Chettri (1/16 in 2) were the best bowlers.
Lok Bhavan batted at an extraordinary pace, with a run rate of over 17.6 as they made 97/0 in 5.3 overs. Asif Khan (56 not out from 22 balls) and Krishan Chettri (35 not out from 13) led Lok Bhavan to victory from start to finish. Asif was named Player of the Match.
