Shillong, Apr 26: The 2nd Senior East Zone National Roll Ball Championship 2026, concluded on Saturday at the JN Sports Complex here.
The two-day championship witnessed participation from state teams representing Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, Meghalaya and Nagaland, delivering thrilling and high-intensity matches throughout the tournament.
Roll ball combines roller skates, basketball and handball in one fast-paced exciting game.
Assam won the women’s category over Jharkhand, with Meghalaya third.
Jharkhand and Assam met in the men’s final too but this time Jharkhand were the victors, Assam the runners-up and Meghalaya and Odisha joint third.
Present at the closing ceremony was Sanjib Kakaty, a faculty at IIM Shillong, as the chief guest.
The Meghalaya Roll Ball Association extended its gratitude to all participating teams, officials, volunteers, sponsors and supporters for their contribution to the success of the championship.
This event reflects the growing popularity of roll ball and reinforces the commitment to promoting sportsmanship, unity and athletic excellence in the region. The association looks forward to organising more such events in the future.
