Shillong, May 25: Wailadmiki Shylla MLA has been elected as the President of the Meghalaya Basketball Association for the 2026-30 term.
The election process was carried out under the supervision of the duly appointed Returning Officer and in the presence of the Observer deputed by the Basketball Federation of India, the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs and the Meghalaya State Olympic Association.
Representatives from affiliated district associations and eligible members participated in the electoral process.
Shylla, who is the Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, will be assisted by two Working Presidents – Carnes Sohshang and Henry S Marak. James M Bamon was elected as General Secretary.
The newly-elected body reiterated its commitment to promoting and developing basketball across Meghalaya through grassroots programmes, athlete development initiatives, coaching and officiating education, infrastructure enhancement and greater participation in regional and national competitions.
