Shillong, Jun 9: The Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2026 will begin on 16th June, with the fixtures released today.
There are 16 teams taking part this year (down from 18 in 2025) and they have been divided into four groups of four.
They will first play a single leg round robin preliminary stage. The top two from each group will then progress to a Super 8 quarterfinal league divided into two groups. The top two from each group will move to the semifinals, which will be knockouts. All four semifinalists will be promoted to next year’s Second Division.
The third- and fourth-placed teams from each preliminary group will play in a relegation league, again divided into two groups, and the bottom two from each group will be relegated to next season’s Fourth Division.
Teams in the Third Division this year include 2025’s Fourth Division winners Mawkasiang, runners-up Mawlynrei and the two losing semifinalists Lapalang and Lummawbah. Umpling and Umphyrnai were relegated from last year’s Second Division.
