Shillong, Jun 10: Mawpdang confirmed first place from Group B of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2026 after beating closest rivals Thynroit 4-0 here today.
Both sides had won all of their three previous matches and today’s game decide which moved to the next round in first from the group and who qualified as the second-best team.
At the SSA Stadium Marbiang Kharbih (7′), Banaijingshai Kharkongor (16′), Andrewson Marbaniang (31′) and Lamshai Jana (76′) were the scorers in the 80-minute match.
Meanwhile, in Group C, Weilyngkut Area FCC had already sealed first place in the group before today but consolidated their hold with a 2-0 win against Madanrting. A 26th minute own goal and a 74th minute strike by Robert Nongsiej won it for Weilyngkut at the MFA Ground.
In the other game, Nongthymmai Raidnongkynrih floored bottom side Mawlyngngad 4-0. Kyrsoisngur Khongjee (9′), Shailang Nongkynrih (49′), Ronieson Synrem (50′) and an own goal (80’+3) gave Nongthymmai their first win, which was enough to move them up to third position.
