Shillong, Jun 17: The Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2026 began today with two matches in Group A.
At the SSA Stadium, Mawlynrei fought from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Nongumlong. Then, at the MFA Ground, Lamlynti started with a 2-0 victory against Umiew Maw U Sam.
Banmanbha Mawiong (31′) and Nehlang Kharsahnoh (40′) started Nongumlong off on the right foot with two goals in the first half of the 80-minute match. However, Mawlynrei, who were promoted after finishing as runners-up in the Fourth Division last season, clawed their way back through Elwinson Kharsahnoh (50′) and Kerryjohn Marboh (80’+5).
Later, Matlut Makri (36′) and Ialambha Kshiar (54′) scored on either side of half time to win the game for Lamlynti.
