Shillong, Jun 26: Mawpdang qualified for the quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2026 by defeating Golflink 8-1 in Pool 2 of the pre-quarters here today.
The other match, in Pool 1, saw Mawnianglah Youth and Iaitylli play out a 2-2 draw.
Banaijingshai Kharkongor (35′, 36′, 77′) scored a hat-trick in the 80-minute match for Mawpdang, while there was a brace each for Samborlang Langte (29′, 80’+2) and Marbiang Kharbhih (72′, 78′). Nameshemphang Pdahsiej (23′) provided the other goal, while Golflink scored once through Ribanshan Wahlang (50′).
The top two from each pool will progress to the quarterfinals and with two wins in two Mawpdang have done enough to book their slot.
Earlier, Mawnianglah were leading 2-0 thanks to Nicky Mawthoh (22′) and Iborlang Kharkongor (45′) before Iaitylli first pulled one back through a 62nd minute own goal and then levelled thanks to Kitbok Maskut (80′).
This result means that the other team in Pool 1, Them Rangshken, have qualified for the quarterfinals. They had beaten Mawnianglah 1-0 last week and have 3 points compared to the 1 each for Mawnianglah and Iaitylli.
