Meghalaya beat Nagaland for 7th Men’s Northeast Zonal Blind Football C’ship 2026

Shillong, Jul 3: Meghalaya defeated Nagaland 3-0 in the final of the 7th Men’s Northeast Zonal Blind Football Championship 2026 today.

The championship was held in Bhubaneswar.

Over the first two days, Meghalaya defeated Assam 10-0 and 9-0, with India international Klingson Marak scoring 15 goals. Johnborlang Pyngrope scored the other four goals for Meghalaya.

In the semifinals, Meghalaya then blanked hosts Odisha 2-0 with a brace from Klingson.

Nagaland, meanwhile, drew 0-0 with Odisha, edged Mizoram 1-0 and then won 1-0 on penalties against Assam in the semifinal.

Taking place simultaneously was the 4th Women’s Zonal Championship. Here Meghalaya lost to Odisha 3-0 on the opening day.

The Meghalaya Blind Football Association held a camp for the men’s and women’s teams in Tura from 19th to 28th June in preparation for the North East zonals.
