Shillong, Jul 3: Shillong Lajong FC yesterday announced the departure of another five players from the club’s senior and junior sides.
The five are (pictured left to right) Hamedamanbha Wahlang, Jakob Vanlalhlimpuia, Aman Ahlawat, Wadajied Kynsai Ryngkhlem and Maxderidoff Wahlang.
Junior team member Hamedamanbha’s move to Nongkseh SSCC has been known for a few weeks now. The Meghalaya State League champions signed up several players after their triumph, the others being Dawanchwa Carlos Challam, Aenam Jyrwa, Skilful Tariang and Dawanbiangmi Passah.
It is currently unknown where the other four players are heading to.
Jakob was a major figure in Lajong’s Indian Football League 2025-26 campaign, with 13 appearances and two assists to his name. He moved to SLFC in 2025 from Delhi FC.
Aman was seen in action for just a handful of minutes this season. Though born outside Meghalaya, the defender had become a tried and tested member of the Lajong set-up over the years as he came up through the ranks of the junior side. Though he featured in 11 IFL matches in 2024-25, he came on just once in 2025-26 as a very late substitute. Whether this was because of fitness or other issues is not known to us.
Wadajied Kynsai Ryngkhlem and Maxderidoff Wahlang have shown promise in the local leagues in years past but weren’t impactful in the Lajong senior team last season, with the management perhaps unsure of how to make use of them.
That has resulted in precious little game time, with Wadajied playing around 100 minutes across six IFL 2025-26 matches and Max around an hour over eight games.
SLFC have already announced the departure of two significant defensive players but also the signing of a striker and the extension of contracts with eight senior team players. The Lajong seniors will be in action later this month in the Durand Cup in what will be their first major test of 2026-27.
