Shillong, Jul 4: The South West Khasi Hills District Level Subroto Cup Football Tournament 2026 concluded on Thursday with victories for Maharam Govt Higher Secondary School in the U-15 boys’ final, Rangthong Christian HSS in the U-17 girls’ division and Balang Mawlangwir HSS in the U-17 boys’ title match.
The tournament was organised by the office of the District Sports Officer and was held at the Mawkyrwat District Sports Association artificial turf.
Maharam Govt won their final 2-0 against Little Star HSS with goals for Bechanskhem Kharwar (12′) and Wanpyndapbor Nongsiej (47′).
The girls’ final was also won 2-0, this time by Rangthong Christian, with Little Star finishing as runners-up again. Here the goals were scored by Rosimery Sohshang (21′) and Wanrahjingkmen Khardewsaw (33′).
Balang Mawlangwir had a tough fight over Rangthong Christian in the U-17 boys’ final but came through 2-1. Kheiñkorlang Thongni (17′, 38′) scored a brace for the eventual champions.
Dignitaries present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner AL Mawlong, District Sports Officer Daisy Marwein plus teachers, students and MDSA office bearers.
