Shillong, Jul 5: Tyrsad Higher Secondary School, Umpohliew Jingtip HSS and OM Roy Memorial HSS (pictured) lifted the three titles on offer at the East Khasi Hills District Level Inter-School Subroto Cup Football Tournament 2026 here on Saturday.
Umpohliew Jingtip were in the hunt for two titles, in the U-15 and U-17 boys’ categories. They clinched the U-15 title 1-0 over St Anthony’s HSS with Hamebanjop Langstieh (50’+1) providing the winning goal.
However, in the U-17 boys’ final, they were up against OM Roy Memorial, who won on penalties after regular time finished 2-2. Both these matches were held at the SSA Stadium in Polo.
The highly entertaining match saw Richmond Lapang (1′) score in the first minute for Umpohliew Jingtip but OM Roy’s Lamshai Jana (68′, 75′) struck twice in the second half to turn the tide. Iaisynroplang Syiemlieh (78′) equalised for Umpohliew Jingtip just a few minutes later, though, and the game went to a tiebreaker, which OM Roy Memorial won 4-2.
Meanwhile, in the U-17 girls’ final, which was played at Mawlai Madan Heh, Tyrsad defeated Iewrynghep SS 3-1.
Tyrsad pulled out a three-goal lead through Deiphibakor Lyting (21′), Ha-i-Sha Myrthong (37′) and Labianghun Rani (42′) before Iewrynghep pulled one back through Sarihun Songthiang (57′). Tyrsad, however, already had a comfortable hold on the match and saw out the remaining minutes to secure the title.
The tournament was organised by the office of the District Sports Officer. Meghalaya Football Association President Hamletson Dohling was the chief guest on the occasion.
