Shillong, Jul 12: The Dream Elite Pre-Season Summer Basketball Camp 2026 wrapped up on Saturday at Pearly Dew School, Jaiaw, here with championship finals and a vibrant closing ceremony that defied the day’s intermittent rainfall.
Organised by DREAM in collaboration with Dubakh Sports Pvt Ltd and supported by Meghalaya’s Department of Social Welfare, the two-week camp brought together more than 100 young basketball players from Shillong and neighbouring areas.
The final day featured championship matches across five categories: Special Batch, Girls Intermediate, Boys Intermediate, Girls Advanced and Boys Advanced.
Guests included Francis Kharshiing, retired IPS officer and Director of DREAM; Barihunlang Wankhar, Headmistress of Emjay Secondary School; and Tosanlang Kharsati, Principal of Pearly Dew School Higher Secondary School.
In his address, Kharshiing urged participants to “dream big, stay disciplined, and use sports as a pathway to a healthy and meaningful future,” while reaffirming DREAM’s commitment to youth empowerment and a drug-free Meghalaya.
The audience also witnessed a drug awareness skit and a musical performance by the DREAM team, reinforcing the camp’s central message: “Be the Generation that Says No to Drugs. Prevention is Power.”
Wankhar praised the organisers for creating opportunities for holistic growth, encouraging campers to balance academics, discipline and athletics.
Certificates were awarded to all participants, along with official camp T-shirts and lunch, making the finale a memorable celebration of their dedication.
The camp focused not only on basketball skills but also on discipline, leadership, teamwork, healthy lifestyles and substance abuse awareness.
