Mawpdang take down Sei La Sap for SSA U-20 4th Division 2026 title!

Shillong, Jul 18: Mawpdang got the better of Sei La Sap FCC to win the final of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2026 with a 2-0 scoreline at the SSA Stadium here today.

There was a goal in each 40-minute half by Pusonbha Nongsiej (15′) and Stevin Kharsyntiew (80’+2).

The first half completely belonged to Mawpdang and they could have had two goals before they eventually scored through Pusonbha but for some fantastic defending that managed to clear shots on goal in the nick of time.

Sei La Sap came into their own in the second half and put Mawpdang goalie Embhahlang Khongnoh under enormous pressure but he was up to the task of keeping Sei La Sap at bay, to the delight of the huge crowd of Mawpdang supporters behind the goal.

Sei La Sap’s hopes were effectively ended with Stevin’s goal at the death via a corner.

Mawpdang received Rs 60,000 in prize money as champions, with the cheque and trophy presented by SSA President Banteidor Lyngdoh MLA. Sei La Sap, playing in their first season of SSA football, received Rs 30,000 as runners-up.

Embhahlang, who was also the Mawpdang captain, was named Player of the Final. The Top Scorer award was presented jointly to Marbiang Kharbhih of Mawpdang and Shaphrangshai Rani of quarterfinalists Nongkseh United.

Mawpdang and Sei La Sap aren’t done for 2026 as, by finishing first and second, they have qualified for the season-ending SSA Champions Cup. They and the two losing semifinalists – Golflink and Weilyngkut Area FCC – will also be promoted to next year’s Third Division.
