Shillong, Jul 21: A single point from a goalless draw was enough for Umiew Maw U Sam to qualify for the semifinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2026 here today.
In Group B of the Super 8 stage, the game between Umiew Maw U Sam and Lapalang ended 0-0 at the SSA Stadium.
That gave Umiew Maw U Sam 7 points from three games, enough to guarantee them first place in the group, a place in the semis and promotion to the Second Division. Lapalang moved up to second with 4 points but they could lose that when Pomlakrai (3) face bottom side Lummawbah (0) tomorrow. That game will take place at 4PM.
Pomlakrai already have head-to-head advantage over Lapalang (having won 1-0 in their meeting on 9th July) and therefore only need a draw of their own tomorrow to take back second place.
The top two from each group will progress to the semifinals. All four semifinalists will be promoted to next year’s Second Division.
