Bonifilia Shullai & U-17 India teammates reach Uzbekistan for friendlies

Shillong, Aug 26: The India U-17 women’s team arrived in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Tuesday ahead of their two friendly matches against the hosts on 27th and 30th August.

Head coach Joakim Alexandersson has taken a 23-player squad for the closed-door matches. One of those players is Meghalaya’s Bonifilia Shullai (pictured front row second right), who is a regular in the squad.

The Young Tigresses began training in Bengaluru on 16th July and these will be the first two friendlies as part of their preparations for the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup China 2027 Qualifiers. Both matches will take place at the UFA National Football Centre in the Uzbek capital and will kick off at 10:30AM India time.

The AFC Qualifiers are scheduled to take place from 5th to 11th October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. India have been drawn in Group E alongside Iraq, Syria and hosts Malaysia.
