Shillong, Aug 29: Umlyngka pulled off the biggest win of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2026 today, with Hamlet Thabah scoring six goals as his team demolished Umphrup 11-1 in Group B at the SSA Stadium here.
Hamlet (19′, 36′, 53′, 58′, 70′, 72′) pumped in two goals in the first half before adding another four in the second. His teammates Nichelson Lyngkhoi (2′), J Andy Wilson Nongkhlaw (55′, 83′), Tirotbornson Kharbangar (74′) and Hunkupar Wanniang (90’+1) were the other scorers. This was more goals scored in a single match than Umlyngka had managed in all four of their previous games put together.
Umphrup’s only goal was by Nangkhraw Kharumnuid (88′), which was almost an afterthought.
Earlier, Mawryngkneng defeated Mawkriah West 1-0 with an 86th minute goal by Ialambha Pyngrope.
In the standings, the win means that Umlyngka have qualified for the quarterfinals as the top team from Group B. Mawryngkneng are currently second but could lose that spot after Nongmensong play Smit on Monday. The top two teams from each of the three groups plus the two best third-placed teams will progress to the quarters.
Monday’s fixtures:
Group C – Jongksha vs Tynring, 12:30PM, SSA Stadium
Group B – Nongmensong vs Smit, 1PM, MFA Ground
