Shillong, Aug 31: Tynring and Smit won their respective matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2026 here today, both consequential in the race for the quarterfinals.
In Group B Smit demolished Nongmensong 7-1 while Tynring blanked Jongksha 3-0 in Group C.
At the MFA Ground, Smit found a flurry of goals through Nathaniel Kharbangar (8′, 84′), Damewanshan Nengnong (39′), Andystar Kharsati (46′), Banlumlang Kharsyntiew (58′), Pynshailang Kharsyntiew (67′) and Eiller Chasterstar Allya (89′). Nongmensong’s lone goal was by Rijied Rymbai (38′).
Over at the SSA Stadium, Tynring won through Nelsonroy Mynsong (29′), Bakmenkordor Mylliem (70′) and a 74th minute own goal.
The top two teams from each of the three groups plus the two best third-placed teams will make it to the quarterfinals. Smit, therefore, improved their chances by winning by such a big margin.
Tynring, meanwhile, have first place in Group C but their rivals will be involved tomorrow and they may not be able to hold on to that position.
