Shillong, Sep 1: Meghalaya beat Tamil Nadu 2-1 in their first Group C match of the Junior Boys National Football Championship 2026-27 (Tier 1) for the Dr BC Roy Trophy in Bengaluru today.
Adriel B Nongbet (4′) put Meghalaya ahead early. To meet a cross from the left flank he had to stretch out his right boot and the ball dipped nicely out of reach of the TN goalkeeper.
At the end of the first half Aiborlang Mulieh (45’+3) doubled Meghalaya’s lead. Tamil Nadu’s Rohin G (73′) then pulled a goal back for his state just seven minutes after coming on as a second half substitute but Meghalaya held on for the victory.
Meghalaya will next face Maharashtra on Thursday at 11AM. Maharashtra lost 2-0 to Mizoram in today’s earlier match. Only the top team from each group will progress to the semifinals.
