Shillong, Sep 22: Defending champions Langsning powered their way to the top of the Shillong Premier League 2026 table after beating Nangkiew Irat 3-0 at the SSA Stadium here today.
Samuel Phawa (65’), Syed Ahmed (70’) and Mebanshngain Kurkalang (79’) were the scorers, with all the goals coming in the second half.
Langsning now have 13 points from six games, two points more than Mawlai and Shillong Lajong. Mawlai, however, have a game in hand. Nangkiew Irat, meanwhile, are in a lowly eighth position still with 7 points.
In the first half Yhoto Lohe took a few shots for Nangkiew Irat but they were either off target or not strong enough to challenge Langsning goalkeeper Rajat Paul Lyngdoh. At the other end, Kyrmenskhem Mukhim struck the outside part of the net, Richie Kharbani’s attempt was punched away by Nangkiew keeper Surjay Kumar Pariyar and Mebanshngain struck a volley into the pitch hard enough for it to bounce over the crossbar.
The second half was when the reigning champs made their presence felt. Samuel was introduced off the bench at half time and scored after Nangkiew Irat’s defence were caught napping.
Ahmed then headed in a cross five minutes later and Mebanshngain added a third after having a previous attempt blocked by Surjay.
Despite being outplayed, Nangkiew Irat had a couple of shots, both by Wallamsuk Nongkhlaw, but both were wildly off target.
Tomorrow Rangdajied United will take on Nongkseh at 3PM. Like Nangkiew, both these teams have 7 points each. Nongkseh currently lead on goal difference (+5), with Rangdajied on 0 and Nangkiew now -3.
