Shillong, Oct 31: Hockey Ri-Bhoi (HRB) in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi University organised the second phase of its hockey outreach programme under HOPES (Hockey Outreach Programme for Empowering Sports) on Friday at the university campus.
A large number of students, parents and teaching faculty participated in the programme. Hockey Ri-Bhoi officials Wanrishisha Pde, Lumboklang Malai and Soniland Malai were present along with MGU Vice-Chancellor Prof SO Manjare.
During the programme, the HOPES initiative was thoroughly explained. HOPES is a flagship programme conceptualised and initiated by Hockey Ri-Bhoi with a long-term vision for the district. Its primary objective is to promote hockey from the grassroots to the highest level and to ensure that hockey brings pride to Ri-Bhoi and its people.
It seeks to identify young talent at an early age, nurture them with proper coaching and guidance, and create a clear pathway to represent the district, state and nation.
All interested students and youth may contact and register with the association to be part of a strong Ri-Bhoi hockey team.
