Shillong, Feb 24: Cricket Smit and Marbisu CC won their respective matches on the 12th day of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 2nd District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2023 today.
In the first match, Cricket Smit won the toss and opted to bat first against Lumpaia Avengers CC and scored 133/8 in their 20 overs. Elbrenroy Mawthoh (27) and Banshanlang Nongdhar (25) contributed to most runs for Cricket Smit, while Miquel Obando Nongbri claimed 4/14 and Daryll Donald Nongbri 3/26 with the ball.
In reply, Lumpaia Avengers came close but fell just 5 runs short, finishing on 128/8 in 20 overs. Easterland Iangrai top-scored with 35, while Elsabat Nongdhar bagged 3/20. Cricket Smit’s Mawthoh was named Player of the Match.
Later, Thangsning CC won the toss and chose to field first and they were able to restrict Marbisu to a gettable 123/9. Bashemphang Kurbah hit 20 and Briketstar Kharumnuid scalped 2/18.
Marbisu’s bowlers were imperious in the chase, however, with a fifer for Player of the Match Andy Alwin Dkhar (5/4) and brace for Richard Collin Diengdoh (2/4). Thangsning had no answer and were dismissed for a mere 25, giving Marbisu victory by 98 runs.
