Shillong, Feb 4: Shillong Lajong FC pipped Aizawl FC 1-0 in their All India Football Federation’s U-17 Youth League Group C match at First Ground, Polo, here today.
This was Lajong’s first win after two draws and a defeat and it moves them up to fourth in the five-team group at the end of the first leg.
Riborlang Lyngdoh Lyngkhoi scored the only goal in the 45th minute, while Lajong goalkeeper Pranav S was named Player of the Match for his efforts between the sticks.
SLFC now have 5 points, one more than bottom side Harisinga Town Club of Assam. NorthEast United FC also have 5 points but with a healthier goal difference (+2 to Lajong’s 0). Manipur’s Football 4 Change Academy and Aizawl both have 7 points each.
Lajong’s first match of the second leg will be against Football 4 Change at Third Ground, Polo, on Tuesday at 2PM. Their first leg meeting had ended in an exciting draw.
