Shillong, Mar 21: Nongdawah CC won a rain-affected match against Thangsning CC by five runs in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today. The other match saw Sohra Combine CC enjoy an eight-wicket win over Lumpaia Avengers CC.
In the first match, Nongdawah had 15 overs to bat after winning the toss and they posted a healthy 127/6, largely thanks to Wankitlang Nongpluh’s rollicking 66 from 38 balls. Khrawkupar Kharumnuid was the most successful bowler from the opposing side with 2/13 in 3 overs.
With the match further reduced to 9 overs, Thangsning were set a revised target of 76 to win but were restricted to 70/3. Badap Pura Nongkhlaw’s 20 from 14 deliveries thus went in vain. All three wickets to fall were claimed by Rilanstar (3/14 in 3 overs). Wankitlang (pictured right) was named Player of the Match.
The second match was reduced to 12 overs a side and Lumpaia Avengers managed 93/4 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Easterland Iangrai led the way with 32 from 36 balls, while Kevin Diengdoh bagged 2/28 in 3 overs.
Sohra Combine won the match off the last ball, with Donkyrmenlang Nadon (pictured left) hitting a smashing 48 from just 31 deliveries and he was adjudged Player of the Match.
