Shillong, Feb 4: Sohra Combines CC and Rangshken ACC won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, by big margins in Sohra today.
Sohra Combines were 69-run winners against Royal Rangers CC, while Rangshken defeated Thynroid CC by eight wickets.
In the first match, Sohra Combines won the toss and chose to bat, posting 144/3 in a reduced 16 overs. Jona (no second name given) top-scored with a run-a-ball 42, while Kevinstar Khongwar took 2/44 in 4 overs.
Chasing, Royal Rangers never got the runs flowing and were restricted to 76/6 in 16 overs. Lalaplad Tariang’s 17 from 16 balls was the top score, while Donkyrmenlang Nadon claimed 3/9 in 3 overs. With his earlier batting contribution of 38 from 29 balls, he was named Player of the Match.
Later, Rangshken won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that paid off handsomely as they skittled Thynroid for just 52 in 14.1 overs. Kisstar Janong returned superlative figures of 4/5 in 4 overs.
In reply, Rangshken took only 6 overs to knock off the required runs, though they did lose two wickets in the process. Kyrmenskhem Nongrum’s 20 from 14 deliveries was the top score and Kisstar was named Player of the Match.
