Shillong, Feb 5: Sportopia SC and Pomshutia CC won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra today.
Sportopia defeated Mawmluh CC by 41 runs in the first match before Pomshutia won by eight wickets against Mawphlang CC in the second.
Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Sportopia scored a relatively modest 133/7 in their 20 overs, with Jedilbert Swer’s 46 from 59 balls being the top score. Pynbhalang Lyngdoh managed to take 2/23 in 4 overs.
In reply, however, Mawmluh were bowled out for just 92 in 18.2 overs, with Sankupar Sohkhlet striking 25. Jedilbert (pictured left) returned figures of 3/32 in 4 overs and was named Player of the Match.
Later, Mawphlang won the toss and opted to bat first but were also dismissed for less than a hundred, finishing on 99/10 in 18 overs. Janai Dohtdong’s 22 from 26 was the high score, while Shembhalang Pyngrope (3/15 in 4 overs) laid claim to the best figures.
Shembhalang then starred with the bat, striking a rapid 54 from 35 deliveries as Pomshutia raced to 102/2 in 11.1 overs. Shembhalang (pictured right) was adjudged Player of the Match.
