Shillong, Feb 13: Marbisu CC and Saitsohpen won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra yesterday.
Marbisu defeated Royal Rangers by eight wickets before Saitsohpen beat Thynroid CC by 130 runs.
In the first match, Royal Rangers batted first after winning the toss but were rumbled for a mere 36 in 11.1 overs, with Richard C Diengdoh taking 3/8 in 3 overs.
Marbisu then required only 4.3 overs in order to chase down the target, though they did lose two wickets in the process. Ramesh Rai was the top scorer with 13 from 7 balls and his team mate Richard (pictured left) was named Player of the Match.
Later, Thynroid won the toss and chose to field first but they couldn’t stop Saitsohpen from scoring at 10 an over for a magnificent total of 204/4 in 20 overs. Mebankyrshan Allya contributed nearly half of the runs with a commanding innings of 101 from 58 deliveries.
In reply, Thynroid were dismissed for 74 in 19.4 overs, with a top score of 23 from 29 for Aleric Wanswet. Banraplang Pyngrope bagged 3/4 in 4 overs and team mate Mebankyrshan (pictured right) was named Player of the Match.
