Shillong, Jun 23: Mawphlang, Mawlyngngad and Laitlulong all won without conceding any goals in their respective Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 matches at the SSA Stadium at First Ground here today.
Mawphlang got their season going with a 2-0 win over Mawpdang in Group D before Mawlyngngad registered a comfortable 3-0 victory against Pynthorbah in Group B. The last match of the day, again in Group D, saw Laitlulong win 2-0 against Umsohsun.
Mawphlang bookended their match with goals by Sundarsing K Syiemiong (4’P) and Arkindonlang Hujon (75′). The first was a little fortuitous as Sundarsing’s penalty kick was blocked by the Mawpdang goalkeeper with a sharp dive to his left. The ball, however, bounced up and the keeper was unaware of where exactly it had gone. Unluckily for him, the ball bounced down and momentum carried it over the line.
Later, the first half between Mawlyngngad and Pynthorbah was pretty even but Bamar Kharsahnoh (40′) pinched the lead for Mawlyngngad just before the break in the 80-minute match. Highly impressive throughout the game, he added a second goal in the 51st minute and team mate Batmiki Kharkongor (67′) scored a third as Pynthorbah had no answer to their opponents in the second half.
Meanwhile, both of Laitlulong’s goals were scored in the second half, through Raplang Snaitang (49′) and Bankerlang Khardewsaw (80′).
