Shillong, Jan 16: The first two quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s Football League 2025 were held today, with completely contrasting wins for Laitkor and Rangdajied United.

Defending champions Laitkor stormed to a 10-0 victory against Umrynjah in the first match but it was harder for Rangdajied United, as they were taken to a tiebreaker, which they won 4-3.

There were two hat-tricks for Laitkor, by Iaraplang Nongrum (6′, 59′, 62′, 64′) and Tracy Rympei (17′, 23′, 41′). Darishisha Kharlyngdoh (9′), Ribahunshisha Kharshiing (37′) and Saralin Warlarpih (38′) were the other scorers.

These two teams were both in Group A but Laitkor won the meeting between the two then via walkover. Nevertheless, Umrynjah did enough to qualify for the quarterfinals as one of the two best third-placed teams from the three groups. Laitkor, meanwhile, were the Group A winners and they are the only team to have won all of their matches this season.

Later, Lawei bagged the lead courtesy Darishisha Ladong (17′) but Eiladki Ksoo (46′) pulled Rangdajied level in the second half. At the quarterfinal stage matches that remain tied at 90 minutes progress directly to penalties and here RUFC won 4-3 to move into the semifinals.

Rangdajied made it to the quarterfinals as the best team in Group C, while Lawei (from Group B) were the best third-placed team.

The last two quarterfinals will take place tomorrow. At 11AM Lumparing (Group B winners) will face Nongthymmai (Group A runners-up) followed by Pay For Right (Group B runners-up) against New Challenger (Group C runners-up) at 1:30PM.
