Shillong, Mar 9: Sohra Combine defeated Nayabasti Youth Club by nine wickets in a one-sided Group B encounter of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 at Saitsohpen, Sohra, today.
The other match saw Laitkynsew Mission Club beat Sohra Police Combine by 48 runs in Group C.
Nayabasti won the toss and chose to bat first but were demolished for just 49 in 15.1 overs. Rahul Japang’s 12 from 30 balls was the top score, while Nathaniel Pyngrope claimed 3/3 in 2 overs and Darius Rani took 2/5 in 4 overs.
Sohra Combine lost a wicket in the chase but that was the only hiccup as they reached the target in just 4.2 overs. James Marbaniang top-scored with 27 from 10 balls faced. Darius was named Player of the Match.
Earlier, Laitkynsew Mission won the toss and batted first, posting 143/9 in 20 overs. They were led by Mebanrikupar Malngiang’s 57 from 41 deliveries, while AE Marbaniang claimed 3/15 in 3 overs.
Sohra Police were then dismissed for 95 in 17 overs. Pynskhem Phawa bagged 5/11 in 3 overs to give Laitkynsew victory. Teikupar Nongkynrih’s 19 was the high score for the cops. Pynskhem picked up the Player of the Match award.
