Shillong, May 9: Shillong Lajong FC and Sreenidi Deccan FC will be in a fight for their lives when they go up against each other in the Indian Football League 2025-26 on Sunday. Kick-off in Hyderabad will be at 6:30PM.
The two sides are on 21 points each, which is now 7 behind leaders Diamond Harbour FC, who came from two goals down to beat Rajasthan United FC 5-2 on Friday. If there is a loser on Sunday that will be the end of their challenge for the IFL title.
Lajong are currently in front of Sreenidi based on goal difference alone; head-to-head can’t separate them as their previous meeting this season ended in a draw.
SLFC were big winners against Chanmari FC in their last outing, winning 4-0 at home on 2nd May. (Chanmari, as it happens, beat Dempo SC 2-0 today.)
Sreenidi, though, had a bigger scalp, as they defeated Diamond Harbour FC 2-1 at the latter’s home on 3rd May.
Given the weight of the match in the context of the IFL title race, Sunday should bring us an extremely interesting contest.
