Shillong, Jun 29: Shillong Lajong came from a goal down to beat Nangkiew Irat 3-2 in the U-18 Shillong Premier League here today.
Mebanjop Warjri put Nangkiew into the lead in the 10th minute but half time ended all square after Kitboklang Khyriem equalised for Lajong in the 41st minute in what was the first goal Nangkiew have conceded in the first half this season.
An own goal conceded by Nangkiew then put SLFC into the lead in the 49th minute and Lajong further extended their advantage when Badonlang Rapsang put them 3-1 up in the 61st minute.
Nangkiew tried to get themselves back in the game, but could only secure one more goal, that of Hiamdorlang Mairom in the 83rd minute.
This was Mairom’s fourth goal of the tournament and he is the current lead scorer.
Nangkiew are fifth in the six-team competition with 8 points, while Lajong are now back in the lead with 11 points from six matches. However, a win for either Rangdajied United or Langsning in tomorrow’s 3:45PM match will see SLFC down into second place.
