Shillong, May 17: Rangdajied United started their U-18 Shillong Premier League 2019 campaign with an absolutely smashing 7-0 victory over Ryntih at Third Ground here today.
With three goals in the first 45 minutes and another four in the second, Rangdajied registered the biggest margin of victory in the competition since at least 2017 (the last year for which TSR has records for).
Rame John Lyngdoh scored the opening goal in the 15th minute, with team mate Oresterwel Langshiang then producing a brace in double-quick time as the match went from 0-0 to 3-0 in Rangdajied’s favour in less than three minutes.
In the second half Starjune Jana got his name on the scoresheet in the 54th minute, with Fernando Sohkhlet adding his own on the hour. Pynkupbor Kharbteng then found the back of the net in the 69th minute, with Lyngdoh closing things out with his second goal 10 minutes later to earn the distinction of scoring the first and last goals of the match.
Rangdajied have form for big wins in the U-18 SPL, with the club registering 6-0 victories in both 2018 and 2017, though they were unable to challenge for the title in either season. This year they’ll be hoping for something different.
Tomorrow Nongkrem are scheduled to take on defending champions Langsning at 3:45PM.
