Shillong, Oct 24: Langsning came from a goal down to beat Nongrim Hills 2-1 in the Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium here today.
In the first leg these sides played out a 1-1 draw on 11th September.
Today Batifar Swer put Nongrim into the lead in the 48th minute but two strikes from Kitboklang Pale in the last 10 minutes of the match (83′, 89′) took Langsning to a memorable victory.
This is only the second win from behind this season. On both occasions Nongrim have been on the losing side.
Nongrim Hills played a good game and looked like breaking through the Langsning defence several times during the first half, but they only got the lead early in the second when Swer chipped over the advancing Langsning goalkeeper Surjay Kumar Pariyar for the lead.
Langsning were dire. Defensively they looked more than shaky whereas their few shots at the other end were off the mark. Then Pale, digging into some reserve of genius inside him, pulled off a stunning free-kick from an extremely tight angle to equalise.
A handful of minutes later and some neat one-touch passing between Langsning saw Pale with possession in the box on the left and he scooted the ball past Jessly Sungoh, who got a touch on the ball but couldn’t keep it out.
With this win Langsning move back to third on 13 points, two ahead of Ryntih, though Ryntih have a game in hand. Nongrim stay in fifth on nine points.
On Saturday Ryntih are scheduled to face Nangkiew Irat at 2:45PM.
