Shillong, Dec 12: The Meghalaya Games, which were scheduled to be held from 16th to 20th December, have been postponed by the Meghalaya State Olympic Association due to the “volatile situation” in Shillong.
Shillong has seen intense protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, which has forced the MSOA to postpone the Games.
In a letter signed by Working President John Kharshiing and General Secretary Chiranjib Choudhury, the MSOA said “Even though the preparation of the Games is all set and the MSOA is ready to host the Games, due to the volatile situation the EC (executive committee) unanimously resolved to postpone the Meghalaya Games to a later date in the interest of the athletes and their safety.”
