Shillong, Jul 6: Shillong and other cities in the North East have been considered as possible host cities of the 2020-21 Indian Super League, which will almost certainly be played behind closed doors, but Goa and Kerala look to be the favourites as the ISL’s organisers make plans to hold the competition this year despite the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2020-21 season will likely be restricted to two states and run from November to March, Scroll reported. A meeting to discuss this between Football Sports Development Ltd (the ISL organisers) and club representatives was held today.
An unnamed official was quoted as saying that Shillong, Aizawl, Imphal, Guwahati and Gangtok were considered as possible venues in the North East. Goa and Kerala, though, are the front-runners as these two states have had a better grip on handling the coronavirus outbreak.
