EKH U-15 Boys’ Cricket: Mawsynram win second straight match; Pongtung their first

Shillong, Apr 22: Mawsynram Cluster won their second match in a row while STCC Pontung Cluster bagged their first win in the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s Benjamin Diengdoh Memorial U-15 Boys Inter Cluster Cricket Tournament 2024 in Smit yesterday.

After losing their opener heavily, STCC Pongtung bounced back with a 16-run victory over Laitjem Cluster. Later, Mawsynram beat Sohra (B) Cluster by 12 runs.

In a low-scoring game, STCC Pongtung were made to bat first after Laitjem won the toss and could only post 76 all out in 17.1 overs. Badkidonlang Pathaw scalped 3/12 in 3 overs.

Eventual Player of the Match Mebanlambha Lyngshiang (pictured left) then turned in a fantastic spell to walk away with 4/4 in 2.5 overs as Laitjem were bundled out for 60 in 12.5 overs.

In the second fixture, Mawsynram won the toss and chose to bat first, making 118/10 in 20 overs. Nangsan Kynter top-scored with 23 from 19 balls, while Mewan Malngiang bagged 2/20 in 4 overs.

In response, Sohra (B) were dismissed for 106 in 16.4 overs with a fantastic top score of 54 from 43 deliveries by Damechwa Khongsngi in a losing cause. Nangsan (pictured right) responded with 2/25 in 3.5 overs and he was declared Player of the Match.
