Shillong, Dec 5: Shillong Lajong FC and Inter Kashi FC played out a 0-0 draw in their I-League 2024-25 match at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here this evening.
Lajong thus earned their second point of the season and ended Inter Kashi’s winning streak.
Lajong coach Jose Carlos Rodriguez Hevia made two changes to the starting lineup from the game against Dempo. In came Ranit Sarkar in goal, while Spaniard Imanol Arana Sadaba and Sheen Sohktung also started the match. They took the places of Neithovilie Chalieu, Hardy Cliff Nongbri and Phrangki Buam.
This was Inter Kashi’s first away game of the season. They won both of their first two matches, 1-0 against SC Bengaluru and 5-1 over Delhi FC at home and started as favourites despite being visitors to Shillong. Lajong, on the other hand, drew with Churchill Brothers and then lost to Dempo.
Ranit delivered a few excellent saves but there was goalkeeping magic at the other end too from veteran goalie Arindam Bhattacharya. Damaitphang Lyngdoh had another exceptional day with a number of fine moves demonstrating his talent but neither he nor his team mates could break the deadlock and SLFC have now gone two games without a goal.
Lajong will stay at home to take on Rajasthan FC on Sunday at 4:30PM.
