Shillong, Sep 6: Schools from East Khasi Hills won all three categories of the State Level Inter School Football Tournament for the Subroto Cup in the finals held here today.
The runners-up all came from Jaintia Hills, two from East Jaintia Hills and one from West Jaintia Hills.
The U-17 boys’ and girls’ finals were extremely close, with both games requiring penalty shootouts to separate the respective teams.
The U-17 girls’ final, which kick off at 8AM, saw Umthli Secondary School edge Musnieng Secondary School 3-2, while the boys’ final saw H Elias Higher Secondary School beat North Liberty Higher Secondary School 4-3.
Only the U-14 boys’ final saw a resounding victory where Umpohliew Jingtip Higher Secondary School won 6-1 over Rymbai Government Secondary School. The scorers for the winners were Sainpyniar Lyngdoh, Colinsaimon Lyngdoh and Arbunsing Warjri, who each scored a brace. Nistelroy Dkhar scored the only goal for the runners-up.
