Shillong, Jan 9: Langsning had a tough fight, but bagged a full three points in their U-16 Republic Cup match on Tuesday by beating Rympei 3-2 in Group B. NorthEast United, meanwhile, eased past Umroh 7-0 in Group A in the other match of the second day with Dajiedlang Wanshnong pulling off a hat-trick.
Langsning took an early lead through Banrikupar Kharsohnoh in the sixth minute, but Rympei equalised seven minutes later via a close range goal from Richmon War.
Oliver Pale put Langsning ahead again in the 25th minute, but Rympei equalised once more through Aiborlang Syiemlieh (35′). Tremiki Lamurong’s 62nd minute strike, however, went unanswered, giving Langsning an important victory.
In the earlier match, Wanshnong registered a second half hat-trick for NorthEast United by scoring in the 52nd, 53rd and 59th minutes. Earlier, his team mate Moses Zothanpuia picked up a brace (18′, 43′), while Jehova Lalthangsanga (57′) and Ribanker Dkhar (68′) also scored a goal apiece.
Tomorrow in Group A Little Star Football Academy will take on Lumshyiap at 9:00am, while Mawpat go up against Sohra United at 11:00am in Group B.
