Shillong, Apr 6: Shillong Premier League champions Langsning conducted trials in Shillong today to replenish their first team strength after Ryntih poached seven of their players last month.

Hundreds of footballers from several districts turned out for the trials at Third Ground, which were watched over by Langsning officials, including coach Hering Shangpliang. However, only a handful of players looked to have made the cut and been called back for further consideration.

Langsning are on the lookout mainly for defenders, but need replacements in all areas after Ryntih snapped up Brolington Warlarpih, Milancy Khongstia, Restom Khriam, Dibinroy Nongspung, Ebormi Buam, Fullmoon Mukhim – six players who were part of the core team that won the last two editions of the SPL – and second choice goalkeeper Eric Nongkhlaw.

Filling the gaps might be easier than fully integrating the players into the Langsning setup, so the club will seek to make use of the months in the run-up to SPL 2019 to form a team that can challenge once again for the title.
