Shillong, Nov 2: Shillong Lajong beat Nangkiew Irat 1-0 in their Shillong Premier League match at the JN Stadium here today.
In the first leg Nangkiew shocked Lajong 2-1 on 22nd August.
Today Kenstar Kharshong headed a goal in the 90th minute off a corner.
Monlang Shylla made at least four fantastic saves in the second half to frustrate Lajong, as the latter poured attack after attack against Nangkiew.
However, Shylla could do nothing to stop Lajong skipper Kharshong from powerfully heading in the corner kick, which was taken by Samuel Lyngdoh Kynshi. This was the joint-latest winning goal this season and moves Lajong back to the top of the standings with 21 points, leading second-placed Rangdajied United by one.
For Nangkiew, this was their fifth defeat in a row, but it was a performance to be proud of, especially for Shylla.
On Monday Nongrim Hills are scheduled to face Rangdajied United at 2:45PM.
