Shillong, Feb 11: Shillong Lajong and Rangdajied United will face each other in their opening match of the Elite League (formerly the U-18 Youth League) in Shillong on Friday.
The Shillong & Assam zonal group has a few changes this season, with Rangdajied rejoining after a year out and Numaligarh Refinery Limited Football Academy taking part for the first time in this age group. Langsning (who took part only last season), Gauhati Town Club and NorthEast United are not participating. Sports Authority of India Guwahati are the other team in the group.
There will be 24 matches in the group, with each side playing each of the others four times (two at home and two away) and former national champions Lajong will certainly be favourites in the four-team group.
The time and venue of the Lajong-Rangdajied match is not stated in the fixtures that TSR has obtained, but the game will likely be held here at Third Ground in the afternoon.
The group matches will end on 17th April.
