Shillong, Feb 22: Meghalaya won their second match of the Women’s Senior One-Day Trophy against Sikkim by four wickets and with more than nine overs to spare in Puducherry yesterday.
Sikkim won the toss and chose to bat but could only make 146/9 in their 50 overs. Meghalaya then scored 147/6 in 40.5 overs to win, bouncing back nicely after losing their opener to Nagaland on Tuesday.
Captain Debasmita Dutta took 4/11 in 10 overs for Meghalaya, while Pinky Chanda claimed 3/30 and Ajima Sangma 1/21. It was Sangma who broke the opening partnership with Daiaka Warjri taking a catch after Sikkim had posted 46 runs on the board and the remaining wickets fell for only another 100 runs.
In the chase Saee Purandare top-scored with 38 at the top of the order, while Vandana Mahajan (27 not out) steered Meghalaya to the finish line.
