Shillong, Mar 4: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma laid the foundation for the construction of a mini-stadium at Bakennang Nalsa, Bajengdoba, in North Garo Hills today.

The construction is estimated to cost Rs 3 crore and will be completed by December 2022. The stadium will be named in memory of Hamilton Momin, who greatly contributed to music in Garo Hills.

“Apart from sports, many other sector development projects are underway in the state. Laying of foundation is not the end for us, we will see to the completion of the projects,” Sangma said on social media.

The development work will include a FIFA-certified football turf, VIP and spectator galleries, modern changing room facilities, media centre, office space, parking and commercial spaces.

Two minutes silence was also observed in memory of Azad Zaman MLA, who passed away suddenly early this morning.
