Shillong, Apr 10: Sawmer won their third match in a row in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division at Third Ground, Polo, yesterday.
Although it was 1-0, the result was big in terms of position in the points table, as it came against second-placed Nongthymmai.
Before the match, both sides had won their opening two fixtures, with Sawmer in front on goal difference. Now, Sawmer have a points lead, head-to-head advantage and better goal difference over Nongthymmai.
Ailumbha Rapsang scored the only goal in the 28th minute and Nongthymmai were unable to find a way back against the only team yet to concede a goal.
