Shillong, Jul 21: Hardy Cliff Nongbri has signed for FC Bengaluru United from Ryntih, TSR has learnt.

Anyone present for the last couple of Shillong Premier League games of Ryntih would have noticed the midfielder’s absence, which was necessitated by him being in Bangalore to complete a few formalities before signing on the dotted line for his new club.

Bengaluru United has had quite a number of players from Meghalaya before – Phrangki Buam, Kynsailang Khongsit, Aenam Jyrwa and Batskhem Thangkhiew have all played for the club.

In January, Khongsit, Jyrwa and Thangkhiew won the the 2021-22 Bangalore District Football Association Super Division League with FCBU. Thangkhiew has since returned to Shillong and is playing for Langsning in the SPL.

Nongbri is a highly-rated midfielder who has represented Meghalaya as well as Shillong Lajong and Southern Samity.

His new team appear to have big plans, having roped in Khalid Jamil as their new coach in May; the club had participated in the I-League Qualifiers in 2020 and 2021 but failed to win the competition.
