Shillong, Oct 12: Meghalaya lost a rain-affected game by just 14 runs to Tripura in Group A of the the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in Bangalore today.
Tripura posted 146/4 in their 20 overs to which Meghalaya had responded with 43/2 in 9 overs when bad weather set in, leaving the latter just 14 runs short of where they needed to be under the VJD Method.
Tripura were made to bat first after losing the toss and Ajima Sangma (1/14), Debasmita Dutta (1/24), Rubi Chettri (1/24) and guest player Anita Lodhi (1/42) claimed the wickets for Meghalaya.
Lodhi struck four fours in the chase and finished on 21 not out from just 10 deliveries, while fellow guest player Vaincy Chaudhary was run out for 16 (3x4s) from 19 balls at the top of the order.
Meghalaya’s next match will be against Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
