Shillong, Sep 15: After a hard fought final round, Shillong golfer Michael Hek brought laurels to Meghalaya and finished second in the senior category in the Kolkata Masters at Tollygunge Golf Course in Kolkata.
The event was played over two days. As was feared, the course was hit by incessant rain from early on the second day yesterday, which posed a lot of challenges for the golfers. Keeping in the mind the safety of the players as well as the famed course, the tee offs were delayed and, a little later, the organisers decided to reduce the number of holes in the final round.
Hek is the Vice-President of the Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society (the state golf association). His final round 5 over was enough to give him a 5 stroke cushion over the third-placed Jaideep Chitlangia, who shot a round of +24 in two days.
